Puerto Viarta

Day 5 of our trip we went to Puerto Viarta.  What is there to say about Puerto Viarta?  It was hot, about 90 degrees with 80% humidity!  After 3 hours of walking around taking pictures I was DRENCHED in sweat.

At one point I had to go to the bathroom and they wanted to charge me $5.00 (that's like per 400 pesos) to use the bathroom!  Needless to say I did not need to go that bad.  We also got our character drawn by a fellow on the street and bought a few souvenirs.  Then we took a break to eat lunch at Senior Frogs which I've never been to but is about the equivalent of Chillies.  It was GREAT!  We had some wonderful tacos followed closely by the best homemade salsa ground right at our table.

Then back to the boat for a shower and a nap.  Then we arranged to meet with our friends in the port and go find a place for dinner (again - the food on the boat was a major let down).  The taxi driver told us there was no place in old puerto he would eat.  So we paid a little extra for him to take us to a place he would like.  Then he stayed at the restaurant and took us right back to the ship for a great price for both of us!

The Margarita Grill was by far our favorite meal of the whole trip!  It was a great atmosphere, the staff was wonderful, and the food even better.

And a few more pictures of Puerto:

we had to wash our shoes after an unfortunate incident with some sewage.  Mine took the rest of the trip to dry out.

Twilight off the deck of the boat:

Our towel monkey which kinda freaked me out a bit with his red eyes
